F-Gas Regulations![]() HCFCs (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons) have been used for many years and more recently as replacements for CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons). HCFCs however, like CFCs also have an Ozone depletion Potential (ODP) and their use was banned in many applications and in new equipment from the year 200. The use of virgin HCFCs for servicing and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment was banned in European Union countries from 01/01/2010 under EC regulation 2037/2000 (see legislation). Many companies have now replaced their HCFC refrigerants either by selecting new equipment or by converting existing equipment to non ozone depleting alternatives. New EU laws that came into in the UK on July 4th 2007 will force companies and organisations that have Air Conditioning or Refrigeration equipment installed in their premises into a tough new regime of care for their equipment. All of our engineers at Jack D are fully aware and trained to meet the requirements of this new regulation and are all qualified in the safe handling of refrigerants |
